While still connected to the municipal water system, the difficulty with a reliable supply of water led Agahozo-Shalom to dig its own borehole. Recognizing that it could provide a tremendous service to its neighbors, who had to walk 2 to 4 miles to a water source, a storage tank was built and water made available to the neighbors

Foul water from all the buildings in the Village is treated by a water treatment plant and pumped back into holding tanks before being used in different vegetable gardens.

Rain water is harvested from major buildings and stored in holding tanks. This water is later used for gardening around the houses or used in general cleanup tasks.
